Longer Cruising Trips

I absolutely love to cook and take pride in feeding you well while you are with me. Airielle has a very functional galley. I also welcome a helping hand if you want to jump in and whip up one of your favorites. Please bring any special dietary needs to my attention.
A sailboat is certainly no place for excessive alcohol consumption. With the exception of a daily "Happy Hour, "I do not include provision of alcoholic beverages in the cost of the trip, however I do not prohibit the moderate consumption of alcohol. If you intend to bring alcohol along, please be considerate of your fellow crewmembers.
One of the best aspects of the Plein Air expeditions is the availability of fresh local seafood and vegetables. We will take full advantage of the local vendors, a few of which will actually come to the boat with their baked goods, shellfish and such. Once in a while I'll whip up some "offshore" food to give you a sense for what sailors eat when they don't have the luxury of the fresh stuff. We will have a varied breakfast that will get you through the morning. Each day I'll send you off to explore with a sack lunch - usually a sandwich, fruit and trail mix. In the evenings, at anchor, we will relax in the cockpit or the salon and enjoy a group meal and share what we saw - or the goofy stuff that happened that day.
Food and Drink
We eat very well on these trips too, I promise! We will begin the trip with fresh provisions intended to last the duration of the trip, so we will tend to have the freshest meats and vegetables early on. I welcome a helping hand during the provisioning on the day before departure. If you have never experienced it, this is a great opportunity to practice the fine art of cruising (sound a bit like Huck Finn don't I - it is actually doggone hard).
Our menu will be flexible, and I usually start a trip with a big pot of stew of some sort, because we are often very busy getting underway. It is much easier to let it cook while we are working, and quite satisfying to wolf down a big bowl of hearty stew once we've cleared harbor and set a course.
Heavy weather food - Sometimes conditions make it very hard to pull together a traditional meal, so we will have plenty of other options, and I really like anything that can be consumed in one bowl. But we will also have plenty of crackers, fruit and trail mix to keep fuel in our tanks until conditions settle.
