Point of Departure and Return
Plein Air Trips - What to Expect
We will stay pretty close to the coast on these trips and get us to our first destination within the first day of departure.  If we are blessed with fair winds, then we will certainly enjoy great sailing, and you are welcome to take the helm and trim the sails.  I will talk and talk about what we are doing (you can tell me to stop talking at any time).

The goal is to get you to quiet anchorages and seaside towns that aren't easily accessible.

The expeditions are planned around the generally expected fair weather of the seasons, but it is wise to be ready for periods of inclement weather.  Sometimes this will prevent us from painting, but it won't prevent us from witnessing the incredible beauty all around us, or from getting to know our fellow crewmembers.

We will always have a gameplan for our expeditions, but strive to stay flexible in case a really cool opportunity presents itself, or because of the prevailing winds and tides, it just makes more sense to go North instead of South.  Our cruising grounds are so fantastically rich, there will always be  a number of choices.

Most of the Plein Air expeditions begin and end at the same point, but this is not always the case.

Occasionally, the juicy combination of spots just leaves us too far from the original starting point to easily jog back without adding an additional day to the trip.

You will have plenty of time prior to the trip to contact other crew to devise a carpool plan or discuss public transportation available.  A train ride after the trip can be a great way to reflect on the experience!
